It’s not just a race- it’s an amalgamation of sinew, sweat & determination. It’s the most thrilling battle on the otherwise serene backwaters of Kerala. It’s reliving the ancient crusades commenced by their forefathers. It’s an occasion which witnesses solidarity sans religious & social barriers.
We bring you closest to the action on Punnamada Lake for the Nehru Boat Race in Allappuzha!
The simplistic but incomparably exquisite island resort for backpackers, becomes our home for the period. With the backwaters at an arms length and lush green paddy fields in your backyard, it would be the most conducive place for the four day workshop with Hellmuth, guiding you through the rigorous details of photography.
We acquire special access to the village teams entering the competition and take you behind the scenes, in the thick of this revered occasion for the village.
Day 1 – We are sure you it will just add to your thrill of being there for the Snake Boat Race, once you see the island resort on the edge of the Vembanad Lake. Perfect to camp for the next 3 days, we will begin with the basics of light, composition and functions of your camera with a little bit of theory plugged in. Right after that, we get into the field session with practicing concepts you learned before. The last day of practice for all participating boats, we head to the race track to get absolutely upclose and personal with the awe inspiring boats – an access given to very few!If time permits, we might grab a bite of lunch organized by the captain for his team. There will time enough to head back for the review session.
Day 2 – More practice on Day 2! With more field exercises, we get into some bit of studio shoots and how to handle artificial light to equip those of you who might want to take this forward. Also a great time to get hands on with clicking portraits! We promise you an exciting night with tricks for kicks! This usually goes on till the wee hours of the morning – you will be surprised at your own energy!
Day 3 – A hectic day, we start early to catch the last minute rituals and polishing of the local boat! The early morning light throws in some challenge, making this an exciting day from the word go! We head early to get the best place beside the track! Once the show begins, there will hardly be a moment when you would stop clicking!
Day 4 – The last day to end with a long review session and time for feedback, queries and refreshing concepts. A special Kerala meal to end the four packed days!
